Arturo Di Modica’s Charging Bull

The Charging Bull stands just north of Bowling Green, on Broadway in the Financial District of Manhattan. It is also known as the Bull of Wall Street or the Bowling Green Bull. The sculpture is an iconic representation of the stock exchange and is one of the most photographed pieces in the city.

A Sicilian-born sculptor, Arturo Di Modica, spent $360,000 on the sculpture after the stock market crash of 1987. His idea was to create a bull to represent the strength and resilience of the American people. Although it wasn’t the city’s idea, he was able to truck the sculpture to the city’s Lower Manhattan streets and install it in front of the New York Stock Exchange building. The artist also handed out fliers to tell people about his art and the sculpture.

Fearless Girl

Despite being the center of controversy, the Fearless Girl statue will remain on the street in front of the New York Stock Exchange. The statue, owned by the Boston-based State Street Global Advisors, has been in place on public property for five years. The statue was commissioned by a financial company in honor of International Women’s Day. It has attracted visitors from around the world. The Public Design Commission will review the sculpture in the coming months, and officials are working to find a permanent home for the sculpture.

The statue was meant to be temporary, but it quickly became one of the city’s top tourist attractions. State Street originally commissioned the statue as a way to promote greater representation of women on corporate boards. But as time passed, the statue began to draw crowds and selfie-taking visitors. In fact, the Fearless Girl has become a cultural icon and a symbol of women’s empowerment. The statue’s popularity has even led to the sale of replicas all over the world.
